We know it can be extremely difficult to discover that your pet has cancer. We’re here to help you every step of the way from diagnosis to treatment.
We offer a range of treatment plans and tailor them to the needs of your pet in an effort to attack the disease they are fighting and maintain their lifestyle.
If your pet has been diagnosed with cancer, our team can help you decide on the best treatment plan. Depending on the specific type of cancer your pet has, treatment may include in the following (either stand alone or a combination of treatments):
We will determine the proper veterinary treatment schedule based off of your pet’s condition. If cancer spreads, chemotherapy may be recommended.
Our goal is to provide maximum benefit with minimal effect on quality of life. Depending on the condition, we may recommend any of the following treatment options for your pet.
We can help treat cancer or prolong the pet's quality of life with medications, surgeries, and/or The Torigen Vaccines (https://www.torigen.com/pet-owners).
A carefully developed diet can help patients fight their condition and provide vital nutrients essential for recovery. A diet can be extremely beneficial for patients who are undergoing surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy.
It is important to understand that these treatment options do not necessarily cure your pet’s condition. Treatment options are performed to attack and fight off the effects of your pet’s condition so that they can maintain their quality of life. Many pets who undergo these treatment options have gained months, and sometimes even years of life.
Should your pet need chemotherapy or radiation therapy, West Valley Veterinary Clinic will refer you.
Radiation may be recommended in many different settings and can be a viable treatment for certain tumors and slow or prevent recurrences of many kinds of cancer. The different methods of radiation can help treat pain, inflammation, and rid cancer cells by using a beam of energy targeting the tumor region.
Chemotherapy uses a combination of drugs to kill cancer cells. The combination of drugs used will vary depending on the patient’s condition and are highly tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Chemotherapy drugs are injected either into the vein or under the skin and can only be administered at the practice.
